Snow Day!

Yesterday, there was no school because it was snowing. I was so happy. I spent the time well. I cooked breakfast. We had bacon, eggs, and pancakes. It was very good and it warmed me up inside. Then I did a little bit of work. After that, I watched TV with my brothers. I then went on my laptop to play some games.

I enjoyed yesterday and I hope we have another day like this. 

My Week so Far

This week so far has been great. We just got into December and it is already 11 days till Christmas break. We just got off Thanksgiving break and it was great. In school, I'm doing fairly well and I am proud of my self. I'm trying to keep my grades up, which is hard, but I know I can do it and get all A's again.

Honor Roll Assembly

My school is having a Honor Roll Assembly this Friday. I will be one of the speakers there. I'm happy but nervous. But I think I can do a great job up there. I did it before in 5th and 6th grade. It wasn't really hard, but it's like everyone is staring at you. I hope I can get over this fact and do my best.

Twin Day

In my school, this Friday we get to dress down if we wear the same clothes as somebody. I am so happy because at least we won't have to wear uniform. I'm being a twin with one of my friends, whose name is Charlene. We are still trying to plan our outfit, but I bet it would look good. I can't wait till Friday!

Veterans Day Weekend!

Yesterday was a great day. We were off from school because it was Veterans Day. I relaxed the whole day because I finished all my homework.One thing that made me sad though. My friends were supposed to be coming over so we can work on a project. Unfortunately, they couldn't come and that threw my plans all over the place. Now we have to plan for a different day and I hope they will be able to come this time.

Also, this past Friday, my family and I went to a concert conducted by the Navy band. It was very inspiring and they were very good. I liked the energy by the band.  I don't have any veterans in the family, but I feel grateful for what the veterans have done for us, fighting for our country.

Pizza Party!!!

Today, my class is having a party because the first quarter ended successfully with all of us getting a C or better. I am so proud of my class and looking forward to this party. We will also be having a lot of snacks also.

Shoes

In my school, we have to wear black shoes. To be exact, majority black. I really think it is a bad idea. I feel that we should be allowed to wear any color shoes we like. Wearing black shoes limits what we want to wear. It also doesn't make sense because a color of a shoe won't hurt.

I don't understand why schools are so strict. Uniforms are fine, and dress down days are better, but always wearing black shoes with my uniform irritates me. What's the reason for it anyway? It doesn't really make sense.

School projects

Well today is Tuesday and I have to work on a project about soap. So far it's good and it will be fun making it. Right now I'm in the process of researching about soap so I can understand what to do. I'm also working with some of my friends to complete the project. We have to develop finance, marketing, and packaging for our soap. I'm looking forward to doin this project because it is actually interesting. Other projects- not so much.

What the phrase "dress for success" means to me

"Dress for success" is a phrase we have heard at least once in our lives. I've always wondered the reason behind it. So in this post, I will explain what it means to me.

When we wear clothes, we usually choose something that matches our personality and sense of fashion. Well at least that's true for me. We always try and find something that looks good on us so we feel confident about our presentation of ourselves.

Dressing for success is a phrase many people may take literally, like trying to straighten their collar or tuck their shirt in. But that is not the meaning of this phrase to me. I feel this phrase means that we should be ourselves. You are only the most successful when you are yourself.

For example, some people out there want to be actors, but if they can't express their true talent, how can they reach that goal? Also, in my school, we wear uniforms. The administrators follow after us, trying to make sure we look presentable. Yes, that is important, but if my shirt isn't the right shade of blue, is that going to kill me? I don't think so!

Someone also told me a story one day. Two people walk in to do an interview for the same job. One is dressed so nice and neat, but is very impatient and hostile. The other is dressed like they just rushed that morning, but this person is sweet, kind and has a lot of patience. Which one do you think the interviewer would choose? They would obviously choose the poorly dressed one. Just because they rushed doesn't mean they don't have the brains for the job. Dressing for success isn't all about looking good. It is about feeling good in your own skin and reaching for your dreams.

It's FRIDAY!!!

 My name is Michelle and this is my first blog.  I am so thankful it's Friday! I'm gonna be chillin! We also don't got school Monday so I'm gonna sit back, relax, and watch tv. TGIF!!!! 

The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the homework. Usually, my teachers give us stacks of homework. I hope they lighten it up so I can enjoy my weekend. That's why we're off, right?
